I did location sound for “America’s Got Talent,” a TV contest show on NBC. We traveled to tiny Pineville, KY to get a backstory on a contestant that moved on the next round. Jimmy Rose is worshipped by this town, and they all came out to send him off. Thousands of people crowded around a stage in the heart of downtown and watched Jimmy humbly get awards. The day was capped off with a rousing concert by Jimmy and his band.

After all was said and done, I walked around with my Nikon and took pictures of this very interesting little town snuggled in the mountains in southern Kentucky.  It’s a stone’s throw away from the famed Cumberland Gap, where Daniel Boone found easy passage into the “cane lands” of Kentucky without having to traverse the dangerous Ohio River.
